Lee Ritenour - 6 String Theory
Music SuperDisc (Video SuperDisc)
|
From Theory to Reality
Six String Theory is an almost uncanny representation of Lee's eclectic career. It features multiple genres of guitar-including rock, blues, jazz, Bebop, classical flamenco, country and more-being played by some of the most well known and respected super talents in the guitar world. This wide range also extends to the ages of the 20 guitarists involved. Career stages span from the legendary B.B. King to 18-year-old Australian TV talent show star and YouTube phenom, Smokin' Joe Robinson, and even includes 16-year-old Canadian classical guitarist Shon Boublil, who earned his spot on the record by winning an international guitar competition, put on by Lee.
Says Lee, "I always wanted to explore the evolution of the guitar. Guitar, more than any other instrument on the planet has been played in so many different ways, and continues to be played in so many different ways. The breadth from Jimmy Hendrix to Andres Segovia-it's the guitar, but it's completely different in the hands of each of these guys. So I wanted the opportunity to put all of my superstar guitar player friends on one record."
And Lee has done just that.
6 String Theory features the amazing talents of: Lee Ritenour, BB King, George Benson, John Scofield, Steve Lukather, Vince Gill, Slash, Pat Martino, Mike Stern, Neal Schon, Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Taj Majal, Jonny Lang, Joe Bonamasa, Andy Mckee, Guthrie Govan, Joe Robinsonk, Tomoyasu Hotei and Shon Boublil, Winner of Yamaha Six String Theory Competition.
Adding in a backing band that included some of the most talented session musicians around, 6 String Theory is truly a special album that faithfully honors music's most versatile and beloved instruments.
